Interview with Dr. James Andrews and Sam Bradford about STOP Sports Injuries, a campaign against the epidemic of injuries to young athletes.

Overuse injuries account for about 50% of injuries to youth and 60% of these are preventable.   Most injuries are the result of specialization and fatigue.  Young athletes specialize in a particular sport, rather than playing a variety of sports.  In the case of baseball, for example, young athletes focusing on pitching are requiring major surgery in their early teens.

Injury and surgery have consequences.  Many young athletes, and parents, have the unhealthy attitude that injuries can be surgically repaired so the negative impact is temporary.
